A little more to discover.

Farm names and wild names

A cow and a goat suggest a farm; a lion and a zebra suggest a very different setting. This board mixes fourteen familiar animal names rather than focusing on one habitat. After finding them, sort the list into animals you might meet on a farm and animals you would usually learn about through a zoo, a book or a wildlife programme. Some names, such as BEAR, describe a broader group rather than one species.

A short word still needs every letter

All fourteen targets run left to right or top to bottom in this 14 × 14 grid. The list stays visible online, so start with a name you recognize and check its full spelling. Short names such as HEN and COW can be easy to overlook among the filler letters; HORSE and RABBIT provide longer patterns to scan. The puzzle has no diagonal or backward placements.

Keep the answer sheet for later

Choose US Letter or A4 before opening Puzzle PDF. The sheet contains the same frozen grid and all fourteen animal names, while Answers opens a separate file. Print at actual size so the large letters retain their intended spacing. For a shared activity, give everyone the same puzzle and keep one answer sheet aside for checking after the search.

Choose a narrower animal setting next

For a forest setting, try Woodland Animals; for birds, choose Garden Birds. Ocean Life offers a harder marine vocabulary with a hidden online list. These alternatives use distinct words and boards. Free personal and classroom copies are welcome; share the original puzzle URL so another solver can choose a paper size and get the matching answer.
