A little more to discover.

The language around a musical score

A score contains more than note names. Clefs, rests and barlines help organize it, while tempo and dynamics describe aspects of performance. This target set focuses on written-music vocabulary rather than instrument names. Reading music fluently is not required for the printable version because its full list supplies the spellings.

Look closely at similar short terms

The 22 × 22 grid contains 24 preset words in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions, including backward placements. Online targets are hidden. TIE and SLUR are separate words, so confirm the whole selection before submitting. Labels with spaces, including TIME SIGNATURE, appear as one continuous string of letters on the board.

Pair words with a score you know

After finding the terms, look at a familiar piece of sheet music and see which markings you recognize. The puzzle does not test whether you can perform them, and no recording is needed. Orchestra in the related collection shifts from symbols and instructions to musical instruments; Golden Oldies offers a different kind of music-themed search.

Give learners the printed word list

Use the Letter or A4 puzzle PDF when you want a spelling-led activity with all 24 terms visible. The separate answer sheet makes checking straightforward without putting solutions on the clean handout. Personal printing and classroom sets are free. The paths match the online edition, so both formats can be used in the same session.
