Search for 24 volcano terms in a 22 × 22 hard puzzle with backward and diagonal paths. Printable Letter/A4 sheets include the target list.
Keep your flow
One more good puzzle.
A little more to discover.
From molten rock to volcanic landforms
Volcano vocabulary connects material, movement and shape. Magma is molten rock below the surface; lava is the name used after it erupts. A caldera and a crater are different kinds of depression, while a fissure is an opening along a crack. The preset targets mix these features with rocks, eruption products and processes.
Read the direction before committing
This 22 × 22 Hard board contains 24 targets and includes backward and diagonal paths. The online target list is hidden. Look for a complete geological term rather than selecting every short cluster that resembles one; the game accepts the preset set only. Longer spellings can give a useful foothold once you establish their direction.
Use the sheet as a vocabulary follow-up
After solving, sort familiar terms into materials, structures and processes. Some words can reasonably cross those groups, so use the activity to start a discussion rather than as a classification test. The USGS glossary offers definitions for unfamiliar terms. This puzzle is a word activity, not guidance for visiting an active volcano.
Keep the answer key separate
The printable Letter and A4 puzzle sheets show all 24 words, which makes the paper version suitable for a word-list-led lesson. Download answers separately and check the same frozen grid. You may print personal copies or a classroom set for free. Rocks & Earth Science in the related puzzles continues the geology theme.
