Keep your flow
One more good puzzle.
A little more to discover.
The vocabulary around a map
A map uses symbols and a scale to describe a place in a compact space. Contour lines and elevation information help communicate terrain, while coordinates identify positions. These targets combine map features, directions and landforms. They are useful vocabulary for discussing maps, but the puzzle itself is not a navigation exercise.
Trace the entire geographical term
All 24 targets belong to a fixed 22 × 22 Hard board with diagonal and backward paths. The target list is hidden during online play. A short direction can be tempting, but check its complete spelling before selecting. Longer words such as LONGITUDE provide more letters to verify once you have identified a possible path.
Read a real legend next
After the search, compare a familiar map with its legend and notice how roads, water or heights are represented. Symbols and units vary, so consult that map’s own key. The USGS topographic symbols reference gives examples for its maps. This word activity does not replace route planning or instruction in using a map outdoors.
Bring the full list to the table
The printable Letter and A4 sheets show the target list, making a classroom vocabulary activity possible without guessing the hidden online set. Separate answer files mark the same stored paths. Personal and teacher classroom copies are free. World Capitals and Rocks & Earth Science offer related searches about places and landscapes.
