Find 24 weather instruments and observation terms in a hard 22 × 22 grid. Online targets are hidden; printable sheets include the full list.

Keep your flow
One more good puzzle.
A little more to discover.
How an observation becomes a weather report
A thermometer measures temperature, a barometer measures pressure, and an anemometer measures wind speed. Weather observations also use instruments carried above the ground and measurements made from a distance. The targets combine equipment with the quantities and reporting terms surrounding it; not every word is an instrument name.
Technical spellings across eight directions
The 24 targets are fixed in a 22 × 22 board with backward and diagonal paths. The online list is hidden, so use the subject as a starting point and watch for longer technical spellings. Compound terms such as RAIN GAUGE appear without spaces in the grid. The visible paper list preserves those spaces for readability.
Connect a tool with its measurement
Once the board is complete, match a few instruments to what they observe. Separating humidity, rainfall and visibility is a useful way to discuss why a weather report contains several measurements. A weather station gathers observations; a forecast involves interpreting information about what may happen next. The activity does not require making a real forecast.
A printable companion to Meteorology
Select Letter or A4 for the puzzle with all target labels, and use the separate answer PDF to check the paths. Personal and classroom printing are free. Meteorology in the related collection explores weather vocabulary more broadly; this edition concentrates on the observation side. Both formats use the same stored board and answers.
